The Autoroute du Soleil, better known as the French A7 motorway, is a major transport route through southern France. The motorway connects Lyon in the north with Marseille in the south and is one of the most used in the whole of France.

- The A7 has a total length of about 300 kilometres and is part of the E15 European road network.
- The motorway was built in the 1960s and was originally only a two-lane road. However, in the following decades it was expanded and modernised.
- The A7 passes through a number of important cities in the south of France, including Valence, Montélimar, Orange and Avignon.
- One of the most notable sights along the A7 is the Pont du Gard, a Roman aqueduct dating back to the 1st century AD and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is located about 20 kilometres east of Avignon and can be reached via the Remoulins exit.
- The A7 is also an important route for tourism in the south of France, as it leads to some of the country's most famous holiday destinations, including the beaches of the Côte d'Azur, Provence and the French Alps.
- Plans have since been announced to upgrade and improve the A7 to ease traffic and improve safety. The planned improvements include widening some sections to three lanes and building new noise barriers.
Are there beaches on the A7 in France?
The A7 motorway in France runs through the interior of the country and does not cross any coastal regions. Therefore, there are no beaches along the motorway. However, if you want to drive along the French Mediterranean coast, you can change from the A7 motorway to other motorways or roads to reach some of the beautiful beaches and coastal towns.
