Small Toll Box – Premium

In France, the toll is based on the vehicle’s actual height (excluding superstructures) and actual weight, as measured on site at the toll station.

For motorhomes, the decisive factors are a height of 3 metres and a weight of 3.5 tonnes. According to the toll operator, if either of these limits is exceeded, a Toll Box for large and heavy vehicles is required.

In practice, however, there is a certain degree of tolerance: you only need the ‘large Toll Box’ if your actual weight exceeds 4.5 tonnes and/or your height exceeds 3.05 metres.

Examples:

• 4.5 tonnes and 2.95 metres -> ‘Small Toll Box’ works

• 4.6 tonnes and 2.95 metres -> ‘Large Toll Box’ works

• 4.2 tonnes and 3.05 metres -> ‘Small Toll Box’ works

• 4.2 tonnes and 3.06 metres -> ‘Large Toll Box’ works

The following is measured::

• Pure vehicle height; bodywork is not included.

• Actual weight whilst driving; not the maximum authorised mass.

More than 2 axes:

Vehicles with at least 3 axles always require the ‘Large Toll Box’, regardless of height and weight. In France, a tandem axle is counted as a single axle. (When using the ‘Large Toll Box’, the details from the vehicle registration certificate must be provided for Austria.)

The small Premium Toll Box can be used in Croatia:

• on routes operated by HAC (excluding Istria)

• up to 3.5 tonnes and up to 3 metres in height

Vehicles weighing up to 3.5 tonnes require a vignette in Austria. Please place the Toll Box in a plastic bag or, alternatively, wrap it in aluminium foil to prevent it from transmitting a signal.

The monthly rental fee covers the provision of the Toll Box, but not the individual toll charges.

This is an annual contract which is billed monthly until the end of the first contract year, even after the device has been returned. After the first contract year, the notice period changes to monthly and the monthly fees will no longer be charged once the device has been returned.

If you return the Toll Box early, no partial refund of monthly fees is possible.
