This is now a thing of the past! maut1.de is the first provider to offer a toll box for 5 countries for private users for motorhomes over 3 metres high and weighing over 3.5 tonnes. Included are Austria, Italy, France, Spain and Portugal. In addition, the toll box can be used in the Belgian Liefkenshoektunnel, on the ferries of the Strait of Messina and on selected car parks.
A toll box is a small electronic device that is attached to the windscreen by means of a holder. If you drive with the toll box in the reserved lane towards a toll station, the barrier opens automatically and the toll is subsequently charged once a month by maut1.de via the stored means of payment.
So far, maut1.de has offered a toll box for cars and vehicles up to 3 metres high that can be used in Italy, France, Spain and Portugal. maut1.de is thus THE provider of toll boxes for private customers in German-speaking countries.
maut1.de is a still young company from Rosenheim in Upper Bavaria, which was founded in 2020. The two founders Julian Schmelzer and Simon Baumgartner had already been working in the toll industry for many years. They realised that although there are toll boxes for trucks that can be used in several countries, there are only a few for private customers and none at all for large mobile homes.
